Healing Brothers United meeting in Packard Health conference room

Healing Brothers United

Too often, Black men and boys are told to “man up” — to handle whatever they’re facing alone. Healing Brothers United (HBU) is working to change that. HBU is a new program from Packard Health focused on strengthening culturally responsive mental health and well-being support for Black men and boys in Washtenaw County.

Our Goals

  • Reduce the stigma surrounding mental health issues

How We Make a Difference

  • Reduce the stigma surrounding mental health issues

Connection Matters

HBU works to spark open conversations about mental health, reduce stigma, and expand access to resources through community outreach, workshops, clinical consultation, and advocacy for equitable care. The program also collaborates with local organizations and healthcare providers to address systemic barriers to mental health care.

Built around the belief that connection matters, the program pairs trained community ambassadors with a dedicated Black male licensed behavioral health therapist — creating a casual, lean-in space for conversation rather than a traditional clinical setting.

Connect with HBU

Have a question?
Want to join the conversation and participate in the program?

You can’t just go around saying things are all right when they’re not. It’s okay to get help, to have mental health support.

Black men’s mental health is something I’ve always been passionate about…it’s also a space for me to improve my own mental health by talking to other Black men who have struggles and issues.
